How did you attract/address your audience?
We had decided on our target audience because we knew
that the age gap that watches the most horror films is teenagers rather than
anyone under the age of 15 as most horror films are classified as 15 or over.
I have created a table of what people liked and
disliked about our media opening and if they would watch the whole film and
recommend it.

WOULD YOU WATCH THE WHOLE

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS
FILM?

PERSON 1
|
I
like the wide variety of shots you used which shows the perspective from
every angle to the audience.
I
like the music that was set for the shot that was zoomed into the figure’s
face.
|
When
the shot was shown of the three girls talking, you couldn’t really hear their
conversation.
Towards
the ending it didn’t really make any sense and it was hard to understand what
was going on.
|
Yes
But I feel like there has to be another plot twist in the film as mentioned before you couldn’t really understand what the plot of the film was. |

PERSON 2
|
I
liked how you didn't know what was going to happen next so it was intriguing
to find out.
I
found the music went really well with the whole opening and I like some of
the shots you created like when the train came in.
|
I
would have preferred to have found out who was behind the mask at the end as
it would make me want to watch the whole film even more.

PERSON 3

I
like the shots and the angles of some of the shots like when the train is
coming in.
I
think the music goes really well with the opening and I like how you included
some of the sound effects when something scary would come up or when you're
walking across the field.
|
I
think more different transitions could have been used because I just saw the
same one being used throughout the whole sequence.
I
didn't like the costumes of the girls and I think that you should've
introduced more of their personality into the clothes.

PERSON 4
|
I
like the suspenseful music you used because for a horror movie, I think that
type of music where is sounds like screechy violins go really well.
I
like how when the figure was walking across the field it was in slow motion
and the music added a lot of effect to it.
|
In
the first scene, I think the acting wasn't that convincing.
When
you filmed the train coming in, the camera was a bit shaky and I thought it
would've looked more professional if it was kept still.

PERSON 5
|
I like
how well the music goes with the whole scene really well.
I
also like some of the sound effects you added in, especially the one when the
figures face came up onto the screen.
|
It
was a bit confusing to understand what was the whole story line.

PERSON 6
|
I
like some of the shots that you made like when it shown the park.
I
liked how when the figure was walking, the music went really high pitched and
screechy.
|
I
think that some of the shots were a bit shaky like when the train was coming
and I think it would look better if it was still. It would also look more
professional.

From this table, I have gathered that most people except one would want to watch the whole of our film and they would recommend it apart from one. The people I asked were of different age ranges so some are from 16-17 years while others are around 40 years.
In this short video, I have gathered some my focus group together which consists of 4 people and I have collected what they would expect in an opening scene of a horror movie.
