Main Task - Editing Journal

For our main task, it took us quite a while to edit as we encountered a lot of problems on the way. Some of those problems were due to us having to re-film a couple of scenes sometimes due to poor lighting and we also had problems with our Mac computer as well so sometimes our shots couldn't be found but when we first came across these issues, we asked for help if we couldn't figure out how to fix it which we then learnt from if it happened again.

As I mentioned in my filming journal, some of the shots we had to re-film because they were too dark to see. However, once we started getting into the editing process, we figured that we could change the brightness and the contrast on each of our shots to make it easier to see which helped our film opening a lot as some of the shots were barely visible but once we added a filter onto it, it became a more brighter. As we did this, we made sure that our whole footage ran smoothly so the darkness gradually increases as you go further into the opening apart from the shot at the very beginning. We decided to keep those two shots the way they were because the street lights kept them bright and perceivable.

We also figured out how to zoom in on a shot and we figured this out simply by following instructions on the internet. The shot that we zoomed in on was when the figure was standing by the tree and it was an 'over the shoulder' shot. The reason why we zoomed in on this is because the figure was quite hard to see from afar originally but as we had increased the brightness, we decided to make it stand out even more, zoom in on the figure gradually.

When we had completed placing all of our shots in order and cropping them to where they needed to be, we started to add music and sound effects. The music that we chose was the instrumental music that starts in the Insidious opening. We had chosen this because we had looked at a long before hand and we felt that that was the only music that went well with our opening. We had cropped parts of the music and added it to where we wanted it to be. After this, we wanted a simple sound effect which you will be able to faintly hear once you see a close up of the man's face.

Finally, we had ended with working on our titles which we had learnt how to do from our preliminary task.
